While living in Preston in 2010, the striking Brutalist bus station caught Hawkesworth's eye. Some some years later the station was under threat of demolition, the photographer moved back to Preston for a month and spent every single day photographing the endangered building. Through capturing the constant flow of passengers, he built a collection of beautiful portraits that not only would contain the personalities of the subjects, but form a wider identity, that of this iconic building that was at risk of disappearing. The result is an arresting series of portraits that give the viewer the sensation of a moving stream of stories.
